Has it ever occurred to you that it might be different parts of fandom that want these different things? Like, maybe the part of fandom that says they want more representation and the part of fandom that really wants pretty white boys don't overlap as much as you think. (I'm sure there is some overlap, but I'm equally sure that they don't completely overlap.)

There's also the fact that 'fandom' and doesn't make up a significant component of 'audience'. And 'fandom' is likely to contain a disproportionate number of the people who want to see certain things in their tv shows badly enough to come online and talk about it.

Yeah, I think the secret maker should speak for themselves. I don't want pretty white boys. I want to see more people like me. I want to see what feels real to me not something so sugar-coated it makes my teeth ache.

But, I'm not from the US. And I prefer telly from other countries because most of the US telly I hear of just looks really faaaaake.
