Well "fandom" is a very general term, but you must remember that not everyone in every fandom claims to want a show about these things, some people just appreciate a character who represents any of these characteristics, and some people don't care at all. Also, I'm not sure how much of the general television audience is part of internet fandom at all, so you're looking at a small portion of what I assume to be a minority. Also, most people seem to prefer comedies with familiar subject matter that they could relate to while avoiding very heavy/realistic stuff and things they don't understand.

Fandom can't even affect their own shows all that much, the group of people on the internet who talk about body positivity, social justice, and asexual visibility won't make a show successful on their own. I'm not sure if the show is any good, but not many people would be able to relate directly with teens at a weight loss camp, and it is not unique/escapist enough to pique everyone's interest.
