I feel you, OP. Even assuming that fandom has actually put some thought in their headcanons instead of ridiculous nonsense, the offical writers are not-mind readers.

On the other hand, though ... it really does suck when your fandom does a really good job of fleshing out characters and their world, only for the offical canon to be stupid random crap that doesn't treat the characters with any respect just so they can churn out another game. It gets really vexing when it seems like the fans do a better job than the actual creators. (I AM STARING DIRECTLY AT YOU, CAPCOM.)
