To each their own, but I don't get the hate for her Katniss. I'm pretty sure she was well-received, even applauded in the role by most reviews - I personally think she was the best part of the movie. Was there a particular thing she did that you didn't like in that role, or just in general?

Watch this (and some of Mainstay Pro's other HG films), and see how Katniss SHOULD have been done. I couldn't believe JL's Katniss - she was bland and sulky. She spent most of her time glaring, and when she wasn't glaring, she was pouting/sulking. I wanted more of the careers/adult actors, as I felt I could engage with them. Katniss... I just wanted to slap.

Katniss is not a happy character. It's not until the second book that she really opens up to anyone but Prim or Rue.

I didn't find her bland at all, and sulky? No way. Angry, cold, frustrated? Yes... as Katniss is, you know, supposed to be. I don't think the original character is all that deep, to be honest.

The main thing I didn't like was her actions in Catching Fire. She's usually a pretty canny person, so to see her blatantly missing Plutarch Heavensbee all but shouting LOOK I AM IN THE FREAKING RESISTANCE, OKAY????? with that shifty behavior about his special watch was just like OMFG lady learn some Spying 101 plz.

Is this a troll...? I thought it's been well-established that Katniss's race was never indicated in the book, in fact, there's no reason why she's "not white". She could have been biracial, but she also was just as possibly 100% white. Considering the author even said Jennifer was the perfect Katniss, I'm going with Katniss is white.

Considering that JL looks literally nothing like how Katniss is described in the books except for the fact that she's female, it would appear that Collins is full of shit.

I mean, yeah she's a good actress and played the part well, but if she doesn't have any physical resemblance then she can't be the perfect Katniss now can she?

Katniss's people are in book canon a fairly broad distribution around what seems to be an "olive-skinned" norm. In short, yes, she can be white.

As Katniss she rather grew on me, and by the end of HG I felt she really "made" the character for me. Ditto Josh Hutcherson as Peeta.
