It is possible to have fun in fandom spaces. You just have to learn how to carve out the right niche for yourself.

IMO most fandom discussions, when something's been out for 5, 10, 15, 20 years...happened ages ago, and people are tired of discussing the same shit over and over. Not to mention that people's opinions start to become skewed as they develop headcanon (if they're around long enough for this) and they've had the same discussion 20 times. :/
The gossip thing isn't okay but just be honest and say you don't want to talk about that stuff, you'd rather talk about the source material.
