I've heard about it but not thought about it much. My high school teacher has talked about it, but my professor hasn't at all. So it kind of fell away from my mind. But I'll look into it again. Thanks, anon.

There are sites that has practice questions. There should be some on the official JLPT site. I'd start with 3 and work up or down depending on how easy the questions are. My next step'd be look for books and exam materials for JLPT level 2, for example, and see how well I do on the mock exams.
