Fluency tests are good, but if you plan to seriously use Japanese for work, I advise you against having it as your only proof as people will still ask you where did you learn the language.

Self studying and other non-serious-courses are looked down on and if you mention your university, they'll wonder why you don't have the title to prove it, so it's better if you really do keep with it. Even if you don't learn that much, it'll be worth having it in your resume.
