Two, I don't think anyone has said that it's completely arbitrary why it's scary. There's reasons it's scary. There are explanations for what is frightening about it. It's just that the explanation isn't connected to plausibility. "lol randum xd" isn't a valid comparison, because in that case, there's no reason that something is funny except random; in this case, there is a reason something is frightening, it just isn't something that could actually exist.
Nothing wrong with finding it not frightening or not liking it because it's not plausible! I just don't think that's a great comparison, and I think it's also valid not to care so much about plausibility.
