Re: Why do people ship
(Anonymous) 2013-05-07 06:04 am (UTC)(link)It's just really fun to explore and play around with those particular social elements, especially as big of a part as they play in most media, and as omnipresent as they are both in fiction and in real life.
Plus, often there's a lot more chemistry between characters who never get together than the ones who do. So there's almost always something to work with and expand on.
Since I also have a hard time being invested in traditional heteronormative relationships, it can also help me appreciate what's in canon by having a space to indulge in my preferences.
