I may have gotten someone fired/transferred, and I don't give a fuck. She was a bus driver on a publicly funded bus at a publicly funded college, she does not get to play a Christian Radio station over the bus speakers without anyone reporting her.

I hope they don't fire her for that, because that's bullshit. She's playing shitty music, not sermonizing while she drives or forcing passengers to pray.

I'm not sure what they did, talking to the other bus drivers, I guess she had been on thin ice already, and had had other people ask her to her face to change the channel as it was making others uncomfortable.

But, I haven't seen her, and there's another woman driving routes here, so either she's been fired, or transferred to a different bus system, where they're not allowed to play music.

That's a little different.

She's not sermonizing while she drives, she's getting the radio to do it for her. And she's doing it in a publicly funded venue that people can't just walk away from, not if they need that bus.

I guess i just don't get how listening to Christian music is very offensive beyond the fact that Christian music is notoriously terrible. As long as its not overtly hateful music, I'm not seeing how it's any more offensive than other kinds of music beyond the fact that you believe playing Christian music on a public bus violates separation of church and state. I think it's a ridiculous to allow public bus drivers to play music in the first place, because no one is ever going to be happy with the choice of music.

OP didn't say Christian music, they said "Christian Radio," which from what I understand tends to be about 1% music and 99% radio evangelists sermonizing.

Okay. See, that's different than what I was thinking too. Yeah, "Christian radio" is not an appropriate station for a public bus.

Agreed. Professional settings--specifically ones associated with the state--generally don't allow religious icons or messages of any kind. Even my super-Republican and conservative state doesn't allow you to, say, hang crosses on your desk. :)

I wouldn't feel bad either. The music is the least grating part of Christian radio.

i've never understood the issue with stuff like this, and i'm an atheist. i don't see why religious [thing] would offend people who aren't religious.
