I do not GET that pairing at all. And it sucks because the pairing is so freakin' popular. I wish I could at least tolerate it so that I could read some of the fic, but nope. I tried and never got into a thing.

It's Kakashi/Iruka and Sirius/Remus all over again (though, to be fair, I at least understand where S/R comes from... can't say the same about the other two).

Why not? It's got just as much inexplicable "lol duh it's canon" cropping-up-everywhere-in-the-background assuming. It just has a lot more canon basis with the characters' interactions than C/C. But the lack of basis for C/C isn't the annoying part of the pairing, the in-the-background-of-everything, assumed-to-be-canon-for-no-reason part is, and that's just how R/S was.

I wouldn't compare those two pairings to it. They have canon interaction. They're friends. They would do stuff for each other. C/C doesn't have this except in the minds of their fans.

I agree about Sirius and Remus, but Kakashi and Iruka barely know each other in canon.
