American movie = American accents. Deal with it.

Did you even read the secret? They're complaining about American movies where only a few characters have non-American accents, not about American accents. They explicitly said that they'd rather have everyone have American accents instead of having just a few characters having non-American accents. How'd you get "American accents suck" out of that?

I mean, seriously.

People in here get really defensive when they detect any sort of anti-murrica sentiment. Even when there isn't one, like in this case.

na

It's also quite nice how some Americans on here get really nasty real quick towards other nations just because "it's not racism if I call your insignificant country whatever I want, so deal with it lolol"

This thread makes me think of the "this escalated quickly" meme.

I wonder why, when there are people constantly dismissing anything US-related with embarrassingly juvenile attempts to be cool like saying "murrica."

(Anonymous) 2013-05-09 01:36 am (UTC)(link)
Case in point.

"Murrica" is juvenile, but "surrender monkeys" is fucked up WWII lingo. Sorry for excusing one but not the other.

NA

Pretty sure it came from The Simpsons, actually.

That wasn't the point of the secret. The point was if the movie is set in a foreign country, why is only one or two characters the ones with any accents? The rest sound like they are from California.

It's an odd thing that bugs the OP.

And, yeah, it kind of makes no sense to me too. Like why bother if none of the other cast is going to play along? And Disney is guilty of doing this multiple times.

This. It's as if in Brave, only the maid and the dad had a Scottish accent...

(Anonymous) 2013-05-10 12:01 am (UTC)(link)
Or what actually happened in How To Train Your Dragon, when the adults all had Scottish accents, but the kids were all American. ???????

I love how dumb you look
