Eh, I'm more than happy to charge blithely into the wilderness of canon-divergent AU. As long as my story was canon-up-to-point-X, and develops plausibly from that point forward, I'm happy.

If I have a ship that starts out as canon and that I'm invested in, I'll probably get pissed if it gets canonically broken up. But I don't tend to worry too much about my non-canon ships becoming canon, typically.
