Personally I prefer violence over nudity because in movies and tv the violence is not real.

If I'm watching someone get torn apart, I'm just watching a special effect. And sometimes it can be interesting to think about how they went about doing that (more for pre cgi movies of course)

But nudity? If I'm watching a woman (and it's always a woman) take her clothes off, she has actually taken her clothes off. I just find it uncomfortable, especially since I then become aware that as a woman this entire scene has not been made with me in mind, I then start to think about how embarresing this would all be, taking your clothes off in front of an entire film crew and then simulating sex with your co-worker.

Yes, I know this technically couldn't be applied to non-sexual nudity, but come on, how often do you see non-sexual nudity? Even if the woman isn't having sex, she's still taking the clothes of to titulate the male audience. That's always the entire purpose of those scenes.

This is an amazing analogy, thank you so much for this comment it's really helped me figure out how to explain it to people in the future, because I feel the exact same way. A+

Not true. Sorry you feel that way but what about the lesbians. What about all of the male nude scenes (Casino Royale, for instance?) Yeah, yeah, there's always some male gazing going on, even when women have their clothes on, but reducing every nude scene to just sex is pretty damn insulting to a lot of artists, male and female alike.
