This is basically how I felt about it. The books aren't perfect, and sometimes lack of clarity and inconsistency are issues, but a lot of the things people complain about Katniss doing make sense when you consider the position she's in and the fact that she's not a perfect person.

And some people claim the narrative is supportive of her wrong choices, but the whole story is told in present tense through her point of view. We're seeing the story exactly as she sees it at that moment, so of COURSE the narrative isn't going to condemn all of her mistakes.

Yeah, exactly. The story would be much different if it was told from past tense and/or from third person POV. I've heard quite a few people complain about the movie, but I appreciated the changes that were made because it gives a much more outward perspective rather than just Katniss' limited worldview.
