When it happened, I was utterly convinced Banquo could not possibly be dead and would be back any moment. To the point where I gave up just because I felt it was taking too long and I figured I'd catch up later when he was surprise!alive. I'm actually flabbergasted to see it was true all along. It's one thing to kill off a major character in a group cast, but the co-star in a two-man story riding almost entirely on the personality clashes of those two men? Who does that? What was there left to even read about? I've got no malice for the writer, but just...what in the world was her logic?

I feel like she intentionally torpedoed the story for some some reason. Like she came to hate Banquo and just wanted him gone and fuck the obvious consequences. I can respect that. If she actually thought it was a smart move, though, that's where once again I'm baffled.

O maybe she took this stupid "kill your darlings" too seriously. I hate it when writers, just for being edgy and contrary, decide to kill off a main character because they have this silly notion that somehow makes them better writers than all those chickens who let their main characters live.
