If it gets your interest up any, the last three episodes have been the best this season aside from A Town Called Mercy. Especially Hide. Hide is like the better kind of RTD angst wrapped up in Eleven's disaffection and Seven's manipulative bastardry, in a Four gothic horror serial set in classic UNIT era. It should've been a two-parter--I would totally have watched an hour and a half of that.

I agree, "Hide" was good. And unless I'm remembering wrong, you can watch it without necessarily watching the episodes right before it. As long as you know who Clara is, I think you can enjoy it without being confused.

I also liked "The Rings of Akhaten", btw.

Rings of Akhaten was somewhat messy and it felt a bit like someone replaced Eleven with a pod person modeled on some cracktastic mixture of Seven and Ten, but yeah I liked that ep too. It was possibly the first episode in all of season 7 to give me actual persistent feelings for more than a brief heart-flutter.

I just don't quite know where all those feelings came from exactly. I guess that's what happens when a character spends three hundred plus years milling around offscreen. Or something.

You know, "disaffection" is not one of those words that has any use as a descriptor whatsoever when it's removed from its context. "Manipulative bastardry" is a trait that has a specific meaning. "Disaffection" is not. What disaffection? And disaffection with what? When you're trying to communicate information to someone directly in a conversation, rather than simply putting it into words on your journal for your own sake, you have to actually give people an idea of what you're referring to. Because they don't live inside your head and don't know the particulars of your opinions and interpretations of the show/characters.

Sorry for the rant. This, how do I say, style of commenting kind of just hit a limit for me after enduring a lot of people in fandom causing random wank by trundling around with their heads shoved up their own asses ogling at all the pretentious insular personal meta they've got up there.

o_O? Eleven is pretty disaffected with just about everything lately. Like, it's possible I've completely struck out on word choice because I'm running on one hour of sleep--but even if that's the case, it's a word-choice brainfart, not a coded reference to the conclusions of some over-analytic meta thread, and you need to put down the condescension and take half a dozen big steps back away from all the conclusions you just jumped to.
