And you know, you just get so much MORE out of the game than you do from an online source -- sure, knowing beforehand that Aeris was going to die took some of the emotion out of the scene for me, but I STILL jumped a little when Sephiroth just came from above and ran her through the way he did. And seeing everyone else's reactions afterwards -- the way Tifa touches her and then runs off looking like she's crying, the way Yuffie clings, clearly upset, to Cloud... Even if the graphics aren't up to today's standards, there's still so much depth to the characters in the little things they do on-screen that a mere script or game summary can never capture.
...and I'm totally preaching to the choir, but this is one of those things I could just go on and on and on about. ^^;

What bothers me is how so much of the fandom assumes that wikipedia contains the entirity of the game. The game is absurdly long, and there are so many details as a result - there are some important characters who have only a few minutes of screentime like Lucrecia, Zack, Ifalna, etc. I haven't read any online summaries of the games, but based on fics I've read by people who haven't played it, I'm fairly sure they're lacking. There's just too many little things that weren't important enough to end up in a summary, but that are important as details in a fic, and that can be obvious when someone gets them wrong.
I understand. xD Every time I see secrets like this, I want to write up some long rant on the matter, but my poor flist has suffered enough talk of FFVII.

(Seriously, the game is love and it has way too many details that don't end up on wikipedia and way too many "fanon" things that some of the I-haven't-played-the-game-but-I-can-fool-everyone people think are canon for them to really fool anyone (who's played the game and payed attention).)
