.hack//G.U. is a series of offline console games set in a fictional MMORPG. There's a message board where NPCs draw fanart of the main characters, gossip about them and discuss what new merchandise they'd like to buy. One famous male player has a legion of fangirls, including a character who posts a sort of fanfic about him, and says she'll be selling 'secret screenshot collections' of him at a convention.

Basically it's a video game where everyone you meet is a video game nerd, and it's wonderful.
