There was an episode of Futurama called Where No Fan Has Gone Before about the Star Trek fanbase. In the future, Star Trek is outlawed due to its fans creating a Star Trek religion, resulting in wars that killed a lot of people. The original cast still exists, exiled to some distant planet, where they are kidnapped by an obsessed fan.
