Re: Fandom references in stuff?

Psych has a lot, but one that's really chock full of stuff is Not Even Close... Encounters

A full summary's on the wiki page, but in short (SPOILERS FOR THE EP) it's about a lawyer who believes his assistant has been abducted by aliens. Even by the main two characters - who are self-proclaimed nerds - he's treated as weird and paranoid (a bit of nerd hierarchy in action). Things kick into gear when they enlist the help of a fellow nerdy UFO obsessee, a man who is a secret!nerd because he's afraid of being anything but a tough muscly jock in front of his girlfriend.

The secret!nerd's got a whole hidden room of scifi memorabilia and old TV/movie props. Unlike the UFO guy, this is treated as an amazing thing by the two main characters. They tell the secret!nerd that several props are NECESSARY for their continued investigation, and in the next scene they're spying on a guy while wearing a helmet from the original BSG and Geordi La Forge's VISOR.

At the end the girlfriend finds out about the secret!nerd's fandom activities and gets mad because she's been a nerd this whole time too, but the secret!nerd's always talked down about scifi stuff, so she's kept quiet too. He admits that a previous out-of-town "business conference" was really him just going to ComicCon, and she's like "omg! I would've loved to go to that too!" And they both make up and become unsecret nerds.
