In college dorms and at the Y, shower sandals are suggested. No one wants to share athlete's foot.

ok maybe the more interesting question is, what do you do when the showers are public? Like at the pool and stuff?

I used to always keep my bathing suit on until I started diving at the university pool (when I was in high school so I wanted to copy what everyone else was doing to fit in or whatever) and everyone showered nude in the communal shower because idk I guess they were adults or something and didn't give a shit if someone saw that they too had genitalia.
