So called "religious themes" are just human themes, so I don't even get what exactly bugs you. Jesus talking about loving thy neighbor is so very different from a hippie talking about loving thy neighbor ~how~?
Beause you believe he was a deity's son? Does that make his message somehow different from a person who just wants freedom amongst humankind?

Also, most atheists have been religious at one point (because religion is often taught/inherited), but most (!) men (as a group) have never been women (as a group) at one point in their life.

Also, what? Religious people have always suffered from the oppression of atheists? Not really. In fact religious people throughout history have made it a habit of oppressing eachother and those who are not willing to share their belief. In most belief systems it's even part of the deal. Gotta win over the heathens or force them to join the club or they will die so sayeth the Lord/Allah/whatever bloodthirsty deity you pray to.

Your man/woman analogy just weirds me out is all I'm trying to say.

And just to be clear, I might be an atheist now, but I know more about The Holy Bible than 80% of all Catholics I have ever met because I actually read that thing out of interest (and turned atheist as the result of it).
I think if I wanted to write about ~religious themes~ I'd do a much better job than most believers who often just like to pick and choose and either portray their religion as the most just or the kindest of them all (because that Old Testament is so yesterday. What are we? Jews? ;)).
