Re: fandom anxiety??
For fic and art though...I'd just post it to AO3 with a lot of tags (but not too many useless irritating ones) and see how many people see it, and post it to a bunch of different venues under the same username. And sign your username visibly on the art, so if someone steals it and posts it to tumblr and it gets popular through the thief's magic tumblr-fu, you'll reap the benefit because people will come to see what other art you've done.

However, if someone does associate your username with a piece of art, Deviantart is probably the first place they'll check (it's definitely the first place I check whenever I find a signed piece of fanart I like), so archiving your art there and sharing it among some communities is a good start I guess.
I know there are fansites (or site sections) for posting fanart specific to particular fandoms, but that's mainly just for the big fandoms like Harry Potter as far as I know.
