Favorite cliffhangers!

What were the most effective cliffhangers in the shows you've watched?

I'm going to have to go oldschool - Star Trek TNG: The Best of Both Worlds Part I. It was so good that it didn't really matter that the cliffhanger one-liner was without consequence, because it wasn't the action that was important, it was what the action meant -- the situation was so dire Riker was willing to fire without preamble, even though the actual attempt went over like a lead balloon.

I'm going even more oldschool. The Wedding Massacre in Dynasty and Who shot Jr in Dallas. Partly because they felt genuinely interesting and partly probably because I wasn't this jaded a watcher back then.

Oh wow, I remember the Dynasty wedding massacre. I was so young, and they were all so very sparkly, with such big poofy hair. Good times.

One of my favorites is the season 3 finale for Mad Men. After a relatively boring season thus far, the way season 3 ended had me really excited, and annoyed that I had to wait for a new season.

I also think "Breaking Bad" has a lot of really "Oh shit son! WUT!" cliffhangers.

Slightly less oldschool: Fox in the boxcar. ATXF members were chewing the furniture for days after "Anasazi" LOL.
