Hey, OP...
But in all seriousness, fans need very little work with. Sometimes characters hating each other makes for a great relationship dynamic, but that's far from it, and there are plenty of characters who hate each other in canon works and who don't become popular pairings in the fandom. There are many aspects of shipping, and love/hate is just one of them.
