There was this one episode of Merlin where Arthur caught Gwen and Lancelot together the night before their (Arthur and Gwen's) wedding and banished her from Camelot and everyone gave Arthur so much shit for it. Came to find out that most of the people who were criticizing him didn't even watch the show.

Like, seriously, just STFU. You don't know the characters, you don't know their circumstances, you don't know ANYTHING, so do us all a favor and shut up.

Twilight is another one. I've read all of the books (because I'm the kind of person who HAS to finish what they start (like Merlin), have seen all of the movies, and therefore can definitely say that the series is complete bullshit. I can't count the number of times I'd commiserate with someone about Twilight's many faults only to find out that they've never even finished the first book/saw past the first movie.

It's so aggravating, and I tend to just walk away or end the discussion because I can't. One girl actually told me that she didn't have to read/watch the series to know that it's shit. I was like, SERIOUSLY?

People like that are even worse than the rabid fangirls.

My problems with Twilight are more second-hand than anything else

I don't have too many issues with the series/franchise itself, especially in terms of quality (what little I have read/seen sucked, but that honestly isn't much). However, I do have some serious issues with the influence the books have had in terms of making younger girls think stalking or abusive behavior from boys is okay or even romantic. Look, maybe Edward breaking into Bella's room to watch her sleep is fine and romantic in the context of the books, I don't know - if you want to call Edward romantic, go ahead. But if someone does anything remotely like that in real life, that's not on.

I read the first book, and that was enough Twilight for me. My life is a finite resource - as it is, when I'm on my deathbed, I'm sure I'll regret the hours I wasted reading Twilight. Wasn't going to waste any further time on the rest of the bools.

So, in order to have an opinion on something, a person has to be like you and finish the entire thing? If they give it an honest try, and wind up hating it so much that they can't get through it, then they're not allowed to talk about what they found wrong with it?
