You're doing it right.

I want to see this now.

+1

It is brilliantly well done. I actually don't think I've watched another version since seeing that one (except for ballet, which is an entirely different medium, so it doesn't count).

I had an English teacher in high school who always paused it when Juliet was leaning over the balcony (and not just in my class, in EVERY CLASS. As an office aide, who had to collect attendance slips I walked in on it more than I wanted to) and say "Now, for a wealthy family, you'd think they could afford more concealing nightclothes." So every time I watch this movie now, all I can see are Juliet's tits.

I don't know. I can't help but feel that this version rivals it in perfection.

HAHA! I was going to post the same thing!

It is a great adaption, but it always creeped me out that the actress was 14 while filming, so she couldn't see her own film as it contained a nude scene (her scene).

It would have creeped me out more if Polanski had directed it.

She was at the premiere: http://www.britishpathe.com/video/london-royal-film-performance

The movie was rated "A" back in 1968, which meant that she had to have an adult with her, which she did.

http://www.imdb.com/search/title?certificates=gb:a

Funnily enough, she would have been "of age" if the premiere was after April 17th in '68, as she would have been 17; but the premiere was in March.

Umm, thanks for this? I knew she was at the premiere. My comment was about how she was not allowed to watch her own film legally. That is the sketchy part.

No lies detected.

(I can watch the Presgurvic musical over and over, however :D )

The best one IMO. forget the Baz Luhrmann 1996 version, this *is* Romeo and Juliet.

I also agree with [personal profile] ladylittlemonster too. I love the Presgurvic version as well (especially the Takarazukas).

This is definitely my favourite version too (and my favourite Shakespeare adaptation in general). It was kind of funny when it was screened in my university though - Leonard Whiting looks so much like Zac Efron my class was giggling.

YES. Saw this when i was a kid (don't remember how or why) and my sister and i fell in love with...everyone. Everything. That led to me carrying around and reading and re-reading my copy of Romeo and Juliet for *years*.

*happy sigh*
