What's your favorite gag reel then, OP? Or perhaps you love a certain blooper in particular?

Do you watch Law and Order? There's a blooper where music suddenly starts playing as two police officers are talking to a suspect, so one of the officers suddenly starts dancing to the music, but he's still interrogating the suspect, who's starting to smile, and finally the other officer just bursts into laughter. I don't remember which L&O that was, but it was freaking hilarious.

I love gag reels too. My absolute favorites are the ones with Lisa Kudrow on Friends. Her laugh is pure sunshine and magic.

No, op, Gag reels are the absolute best and I love them. There's no reason to be ashamed for liking gag reels because it's the actors goofing around. Have you seen the Star Trek TNG season 2 gag reel?

Love gag reels. For me, I always get disappointed if the dvd to a movie doesn't come with a commentary track. I always wonder what is their mostly likely cheap, lazy excuse for not having one. (Like Nolan won't do commentaries because he doesn't "want to ruin the magic movies." Oh, come on. If my eyes could roll any further, I'd see my brain.)

Oh hell no, gag reels rock. The Avengers one was pretty great too, so good image choice. Especially Cobie Smulders. "COULSOOOOON!"

I love the Supernatural gag reels! Especially the ones that are like ~10 minutes long! Season 7 was actually my favorite of the gag reels, despite the actual show sucking so much ass.

I don't blame you; one of my favorite things about DVDs/Blu-rays (not the movies themselves) is getting behind the scenes stuff, special features and commentary tracks! I love hearing about that stuff.

(that's why Community made me really happy when I found out they had commentary for every episode. And the best commentary track is from the season 3 Parks & Rec where they got people like the Production Coordinator and the craft services person to talk).

I used to love gag reels too, OP. And then I had far too many experiences of "gag reels" just being music montages of supposedly funny quick-cuts from the actual show/movie interspersed with an actor flubbing a line. I NEED to believe there's funnier footage left on the cutting room floor.

When I look forward to a movie it's for the movie itself but I will not deny that the main selling point for buying a DVD are the bloopers.

Heck, I watch bloopers for TV shows I don't even watch. I just love people being silly and laughing. If someone starts laughing around me I find it hard to not start laughing too even if nothing funny is happening.

(Anonymous) 2013-05-18 12:06 am (UTC)(link)
I love gag reels, too OP. One of my favourite all-time bloopers is from the original Conan The Barbarian movie, where Arnie's running in full barbarian drag and being chased by dogs. He trips and curses. His accent + English curse words = hilarious good times.

I always bring up gag reels when anybody gets way too serious about something in movie/tv fandom, just to remind them that the actors are doing a job and aren't the characters they portray. Gag reels are great for keeping perspective.

I love gag reels too. I have also watched gag reels for shows I haven't seen yet. I just like seeing people cracking up. It makes me smile :)

I heart gag reels. I have been known to watch gag reels for shows I don't watch as well.

Tom laughing is always appreciated.

Gag reels are awesome. My favorite gag reel has one of my favorite actors making his co-star collapse into fits of giggles every time he looks at her, thus teaching me the term "corpsing."

I am of the opinion that all movies should be required to have gag reels. I love the crap out of them, especially with characters like Snape who are all sinister and shit but the actor is a big goofball.

I also really love video blogs - I know the Doctor Who DVDs included them, but I'm not sure if that was just because it was a DW cast/crew thing or if it's a British TV thing, but they're also goofy and adorable.

Gag reels are awesome. I love the Supernatural ones and I saw a few of the X-Files that were hilarious. I do wish there were more outtakes from the dub actors for anime. The only one I know is Berserk.

I do that too! It's the reason I buy collectors editions of my shows and movies and I'm always so disappointed when there's no gag reel.

(Also, thank you for using that .gif. Tom is delicious in all has forms.)

Criminal Minds has great ones. Particularly if you've never seen Thomas Gibson outside of his Hotch role.

And Leverage. (At one point, a scene derails and no one arrests the actor playing the bad guy, so he proceeds to arrest himself.)

And Blue Bloods. There are no words for that one; some of the dance sequences made me laugh harder than I have in a long time.
