Can I just say that it's really annoying that the intense dislike that some people have towards nerd rage seems to have led a lot of people to simply substitute nerd-ragey complaints for social-justicey complains, simply because the latter is seen as more legitimate?

It's like you're not allowed to just dislike anything anymore and so everything has to be couched in terms of social justice and representation because those are the only complaints where people have to take you seriously. I think those complaints are legitimate in themselves but it's just frustrating the position they've taken. If you don't like something, you know what? That's okay. Stop trying to justify your dislike by figuring out a way that the thing you dislike is actually evil.

I kinda agree. As in, yeah, I think there are a lot of people who try to dress up their shipping or character preferences in social justice language in order to appear 'better' than people who don't share those preferences. (A lot of the 'you MUST like this minor female character, otherwise you're a SEXIST PIG!' arguments fall into this, IMO)

And it sucks because people who misuse social justice language to bash different opinions end up making it harder to talk about *actual* social justice issues in media.
