Mmm...Troy is clearly not asexual, based on stuff that happend in the past season or two. So I think maybe "platonic" as a better word than "asexual" in this case? Past that nitpick, I think lots of folks relate to this secret...

I think a sexual person can be in an asexual relationship tho. So yes he's been shown to be interested in sex, I think that he would also be fine without it if he ever realized what he has with Abed.

I'm pretty sure Troy knows full well what he has with Abed. They're best friends, the very definition of BFF. Just because they don't have sex with each other doesn't make them in an asexual relationship. It makes them friends.

Personal headcanon incoming: I think they're BFFs working within the confines of expected main stream relationships. I think neither of them even realize that best friends can easily turn to an asexual or romantic relationship. And that romance doesn't always mean the same thing to everyone. Roses equal romance for some, pillow forts are romance for others. And I think if either of them really thought about it they'd realize what they have is perfect and wouldn't really want to seek out other sexual or traditionally romantic relationships.

I totally agree with your headcanon.

I've actually thought about this kind of thing before (though not specifically about this show but people I know/people in general.) I feel like a lot of times people get so hung up on what they think romance or a relationship is 'supposed' to be that they might miss out on something that would work for them and make them happy just because it doesn't look like the kind of relationship they think they 'should' have.

I have two friends that T&A remind me a lot of. Everyone in our group of friends basically treats them like a couple anyway and they've even said that they know they're perfect for each other and they would be together if they could just skip the sex part. And its like... why can't you? 'Oh we can't do that, people would think we're freaks.' *sigh*

I'm not sure if Abed is all that asexual either. In episode 2x03, the one where he delivers the baby in the background, the reason the pregnant woman sought him out was cause she thought he might be the father.

Also, if you pay really closer attention to the sequence of events it seems to be the most likely (girl seeks out Abed, they talk, he seems to indicate her stomach and himself somewhat, he gets beat up by her girlfriend, he's seeing reading baby book in one scene) Personally, I think if it was supposed to be some kind of Abed doing a tv-trope, it would've been him seeking out the girl, and not the other way around, kwim?

Hm, I've seen that commentary but I don't remember that. Interesting! I could totally see that as being Abed acting out a trope though. Oh Abed.

ayrt Okay, then I agree with OP. Those two do romantic stuff for each other all the time! They are adorable and love each other but I just cannot see them having sexytimes.

IDK, I could easily see either/both of them as asexual. Anytime they've come across as if they were interested in sex I've gotten the vibe that it was because they felt like they were supposed to be rather than any actual interest, and I think if it came down to it they'd rather just hang out and go on adventures with each other than have sex with anyone else.
