Too boss to die
When I got it between my fingers, I realized... this Ant was too goddamn boss to die. It is deposited outside, where it presumably has gone on to conquer its hive.
Stories of insects/whatever that ultimately proved to have earned your respect too much to die?
Re: Too boss to die
The slugs that lived in the bathroom of the trailer I used to live in. They are the only thing I miss about that hell hole. I was always so happy if I saw them in when I was in the bathroom.
... I kept having to remind myself not to pet them. They wouldn't like it, and neither would I, but I really, really wanted to at times.

(Anonymous) 2013-05-19 12:41 am (UTC)(link)The only thing I can contribute is a reverse example: really, dragonfly, if someone is nice enough to save you from drowning in a swimmingpool, biting them is not an adequate thank you. (I didn't kill it and learned the lesson that dragonflies are indeed predators that day (to my defence, I was six)).

Re: Too boss to die
(Anonymous) 2013-05-19 01:50 am (UTC)(link)There's a little jumping brown one living on my indoor plant. idk what it's eating but sometimes it makes a determined trek out of my plant, across my computer desk and onto the smaller plant I have on the other side. I watched it catch a fly once on my alarm clock, jump! fly down for the count.
There's some daddy long legs in basically each corner of a room, doing their thing.
Outside in the compost is a redback, she help keeps the fruit flies and assorted critters to a minimum. She's got an eggsack right now so I'm weighing the pro (safety of people in nearby houses) with the cons (killing her babies) of destroying it.
