Yeah, this. The high school culture I grew up with has more in common with Japanese high schools than American. Cram school? We had after school 'extra lessons' which adds up the about the same thing. Intense exams? Oh baby. Rigid uniforms? Shit, don't get me started, we had regulation BRA COLOURS. I never could get into High School AU fics because they're inevitably American-style high schools and I just can't relate.

I can see how you'd relate more easily to Japanese high school situations!

Oh, wow, and I thought our school regulations including specific ribbon and shoe colours we had to wear was strict. Regulation bra colours, though, how would they even check?

The uniform was white shirts and white undershirts. There were legions of prefects on the lookout for anything bright enough to show through from underneath, or a stray strap. We had mass uniform checks at random a few times a month, from hairstyle to fingernail length to sock height. It took me a year into university to realize, hey, I'm actually free to wear makeup now if I want.

All the same, it was a good school with some great teachers and I had fun times.

Ohhh, I thought that might be the case only after I responded. Makes sense!

HAHA, fingernail length! We had those every Saturday, during morning assembly. I still clip my nails short enough to not have any whites at the edge. xD

I'm sure! I had some fine teachers too and the most awesome principal. ^^
