what would sound less impersonal to you? not trying to be combative or anything - just curious?

I remember reading somewhere about the cultural differences between use of the word 'lady' in american vs uk where it pointed out that in the uk, we have ladies as a title of peerage so it's seen as something denoting respect but in america it's more like 'hey lady' like they're picturing a 30s street ruffian with a brooklyn accent or something and it connotes as rude.

Women? idk, it's only in some cases where "ladies" sounds weird to me, and it's often specifically in fandom in the context of characters/people in fandom who are "LADIES guys look how I love LADIES a lot of people don't like the LADIES because they're sexist against the LADIES male characters just aren't as great as LADIES!!" which smacks of condescension and angling for sjw brownie points to me, and always with that one exact word. That's why I specified people in fandom at the start of the thread.

I think maybe it is a tumblr thing because nobody here seems to know what I am talking about...

Thank you. You've just articulated why people on tumblr saying 'ladies' all the time annoys me. I've been trying to figure out why it pisses me off for ages.
