Ngl, I laughed at this.

Even if a dog or cat is too high maintenance, get a hamster, maybe a lizard or a bird or even some goldfish you can name stupid things like Azrael and Doomhammer. Work your way up the evolutionary chain of life towards other human beings. And I say that as someone with social anxiety whose cats are sometimes the only reason I get out of bed. There's something about providing for a living thing that honestly doesn't care what all is wrong with you so long as you feed them that takes you out of your own head for a bit, which can be helpful.

I agree with all this except birds are even more high-maintenance than any of those other things, do not get a bird.
