Write it out, and post it as a private post or just let it sit in a Word document. Wait a few days. Go back to it, read it over, re-phrase things that don't flow well. Then wait another day. Do you still agree with your writing? If not, keep the post private. If yes, post it.

This is good advice, too. Views do change. Mine have, having been in the same fandom for 10 years. I can admit that I used to like Pairing 1 because I thought they were hot together, when nowadays I don't think Pairing 1 would work out long-term. /shrug

It happens! And that's okay. But I love the idea of writing meta and then sitting on it for a couple of days to view it with fresh(er?) eyes.

Most of my meta I never bothered to look back over more than once, and I love posting stuff right away so I tend to not proofread enough. I think I'll try this myself from now on.
