Re: Questions about alcohol
(Anonymous) 2013-05-19 10:04 pm (UTC)(link)1. If you're meaning mixed drinks, there's loads. If you're meaning straight out of the bottle, that's not as many. Some wines are, some other alcohol is. My personal kryptonite is sour apple schnapps, but when I say that in mixed company, I usually get weird looks. If you're curious, you can find sweeter stuff in the "cordial" or "dessert" areas of the wine section in your grocery store.
2. Jagermeister is gross. It tastes like black licorice and it's gross. :(
3/4. People like vodka cause it's kind of an easy way to move into drinking the harder stuff, I think. It's also usually present in a home bar since a ton of mixed stuff has vodka. I don't drink vodka straight.
5. If you're in some states, beer and wine are not liquor and everything else is. Dunno if that's the "real" definition or not.
6. All alcohol, as far as I've experienced, has a burn. Each has a different kind of burn, though, so if one is too burny for you, try another. It goes from DEAR SWEET JESUS MY THROAT IS DYING to a very pleasant, warm feeling. I prefer the latter.
7. No, but the ones that are are pretty fun. I'm not a big champagne fan, but even within champagne there's a lot of different varieties, some of which I love. Alcohol is weird! Once you get older, if you have a larger chain alcohol shop in the area that's known for answering questions, just go in there and find someone that looks friendly and start asking. Tell them you're just wanting to learn more so maybe they won't try to shove a $25 bottle of Kahlua in your hands.
Have fun, and be safe! :)
