Re: Hairstyle Advice
(Anonymous) 2013-05-20 01:28 am (UTC)(link)As for haircuts, I have wavy/curly hair (depends on its mood) and I've worn it as long as hitting the top of my bum, to as short as above the shoulders. It's a matter of getting the right cut. Layers and shape are important to make sure your hair doesn't floof out into a mushroom (I had that exact same problem when I was thirteen, but at the same length now, my hair looks really nice because the cut and the way I care for it are different). If you want to play it safe, I find the best length is one that hits somewhere around your shoulder blades.
And styles... well, it depends on the length of your hair. When I had longer hair, I liked to put it up just because the weather around here's really hot. Sometimes it was a simple ponytail with a hair-tie; sometimes I used a banana clip or a butterfly clip, which are great ways to add embellishment to your hair. I also occasionally used a chopstick to pull my hair into a bun. And speaking of buns, that's a quick and easy option to get your hair out of the way. Also, with both buns and ponytails, pulling them to the side instead of dead-centre at the back can jazz up the look in an instant - just make sure it looks great from all angles. You might have to play with how far forward etc you can pull it, to find a look that flatters you.
As of a month ago, my hair's too short to do any of the above, so I've recently turned to hairbands to add visual interest. They're something you could certainly try as well, for days you don't feel like doing anything with your hair, but just want to pep it up a bit.
Hope some of this helps! =D
