Goblet of Time sounds like a fun fantasy series. I'd probably read those books.

My brain does stuff like this all the time. Whenever I see RDJ instead of Robert Downey Jr my brain goes "Richard Dean...J?". Then with JGL instead of Joseph Gorden-Levitt my brain automatically thinks of Jake Gyllenhaal. Brains be weird.

I'm just thankful for the acronyms, really, it's really useful not to have to spell it all out.

I love this secret <3

I think my weirdest acronym fail is the fact that I always read STFU as "stuff you". idek.

(Anonymous) 2013-05-21 12:13 am (UTC)(link)
Knowing that idek is 'i don't even know' I pretty much always pronounce it i-deck in my head.

oh my god, me too.

And most of the time when STFU is used, "Stuff you!" seems to fit in just fine.

Goblet of Time sounds legit.

(Anonymous) 2013-05-20 11:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Out of curiosity, how does everyone hear "ASOIAF"? I hear it as "uh soy off".

(Anonymous) 2013-05-20 11:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Kind of "ay soph". I know I'm ignoring some sounds but that's the way my brain reads/hears it.

(Anonymous) 2013-05-20 11:48 pm (UTC)(link)
"as off" tbh. I have a terrible habit of deleting/rearranging acronyms.

(Anonymous) 2013-05-20 11:58 pm (UTC)(link)
I hear it somewhat like you if I bother with it, but mostly my brain just picks up "ah soy-" and then jumps to the next word. ASOIAF has got to be one of the most terrible acronyms I've ever come across.

ay es oh eff.

I think it's less that I'm trying to pronounce it and more that my brain is simply going, "Nope, too long," and skips a couple letters in the middle there.

[personal profile] vethica 2013-05-21 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
Never really thought about it before now, but it's something like "ah so ee aff".

(Anonymous) 2013-05-21 02:17 am (UTC)(link)
I like to think I have the fanciest pronunciation: "ah-swahf."

(Anonymous) 2013-05-21 06:45 am (UTC)(link)
+1

(Anonymous) 2013-05-21 05:11 am (UTC)(link)
my mind always automatically translates it to "a song of ice and fire"

(Anonymous) 2013-05-21 04:34 pm (UTC)(link)
... And now I'm forever going to read it as 'ah, sod off'.

(Anonymous) 2013-05-21 12:01 am (UTC)(link)
I keep reading GOT as capslock!got, as in the someone yelling/emphasizing the verb. Makes for some very confused reading when I'm tired or not really paying attention. :P

GoT is somewhat better as I sound out each letter one by one, which gives my brain enough time to parse what people are talking about.

Goblet of Time is an amazing title. I wonder what it would be about.

As oddly specific as this is, it's almost exactly true for me too, right down to what I have and haven't read. *high-five*
