Lately I read "On the Wings of War" (Supernatural) : http://archiveofourown.org/works/245211/chapters/378117

or the Tricks of the Trade series (Avengers) : http://archiveofourown.org/series/19850

But most of my other favorites are kind of embarrassing, like some out-there weirdass pairings or some badly written fix-it fic. I also tend to default to some of my really REALLY old favorites from my first fandom, Harry Potter. Unfortunately, all my favorites from HP are Harry/Voldemort, which....most people would not see as comfort-fic.

There are some really good ones out there, too. Try checking out EpicSolemnity's "Death of Today" sometime. It's EPIC. AU, but epic.

Thanks for the advise anon, but I only read one pairing in HP, though I might look into it when I have the time!

And do not think it is a high horse thing, the pairing is Percy/Oliver so...

I'm odd when it comes to fandoms I read fics for or not, HP I read only Percy/Oliver, in BBC!Sherlock I read basically anything and in a lot of stuff I don't read fanfics at all

It does! It's a kickass series, and Loki manages to be a sympathetic character while simultaneously not becoming a huge woobie, which is always a plus.

As a fellow Harry/Voldemort shipper I'd be interested in links to those old favorites. :) Old HP fics are comforting to me by default due to the nostalgia factor.

Abandon starts off....bad. But before long it becomes awesome, so put up with the awkward dialog at first. It also features some of the most cliche shit you will ever see, but I can't help but love it.

Abandon clocks in at over 200K words, too. Super epic-length.
