I don't want to be mean, but besides their being completely manufactured bands, I can't tell these apart anyways. They literally all sound the same. Except for the chubby blonde in the top right picture, on the far left of the photo, who only stands out because she's chubby, how do TPTB differentiate and choose which girl to make the star? I'm not joking, I'm honestly curious.

assuming you're being genuine here, I'll just say that in most cases we don't really know either. a lot of it is looks from what I can tell, though Hyorin and CL (sistar and 2ne1, respectively) are definitely talent.

To me they all look equally attractive in a totally generic and airbrushed way. (Except for those punky girls. They just look ridiculous with those expressions.)

No way is she chubby, they've just styles her to be the "every girl" type where normal people can look at her and see themselves in her. I'm sure if they didn't dress her in frumpy ill-fitting outfits and give her unflattering haircuts she'd be a fucking stunner.

Wow you'd really hate a lot of Jpop groups (like the Morning Musume song where half of the girls just go 'woooooaahh' in the background, Resonant Blue).

I mean, it's cool to want to support all the members in a group, but sometimes certain members tend to stand out more or get more popular, and it's hard to blame the companies for that, I think.

I see what you mean, but in the groups you posted above, I disagree with the CL and Hyorin examples. CL stands out on her own because she is the best female rapper on the kpop scene since JeA, plus her personality on 2ne1tv. Hyorin was also automatically the star of her group because her voice is actually incredible. in WG and other groups (can't comment on AOA since I haven't heard of whoever that girl is), yeah, I definitely agree.

especially groups like 4minute--I love Hyuna, but it feels like Cube picked a random girl from the group to go solo and it could have been any of them who skyrocketed. same with miss a.

Nah, Hyuna already had it packed in that she'd be the main. With her drama from exiting WG right when they were exploding, they probably set the group up right away to be a showcase for her and not just a random selection.(Think Pussycat Dolls)
