I'd just like one of the girls to actually like comics and such. I'm all for brain geekery, but having one gf or just a girl friend like geeky things would be nice.

But of course it would probably backfire :/

That's what bothers me as well. I thought "yay, more geeky girls" but somehow they are just as baffled by the guys' love for sci-fi/comics/etc. It's aggravating because it sends the message that even awesome brainy ladies are still "outside" the geek culture.

Yup. You've nailed it anon. The show really seems to say that girls can't be "boy geeky" a lot of them time. Sometimes they are allowed to be geeky, but then it kinda fizzles out or is just used as a joke.
