Reminder that Bobby Jindal, Governor of Louisiana, fairly well respected Republican, someone whose name has been mentioned as a potential 2016 Presidential candidate, not only believes in exorcisms but actually participated in one when he was in college. He even wrote an essay about it (which is widely quoted around the net, for instance here: http://swampland.time.com/2008/06/11/jindals_exorcism/ and which is pretty disquieting stuff).

Not only does this stuff happen, but apparently you can believe in it and get considered for high office, you can be respected by mainstream political journalists, you can have a political career, despite being involved in it - in something that has to be considered as torture and incredibly harmful and insane by any halfway-rational, decent person. Jesus wept.

I'm sorry you're going through that right now.
