Xbox one

(Anonymous) 2013-05-22 11:26 pm (UTC)(link)But I'm still working on XBox 360's Fable III and Elder Scrolls IV (haven't even THOUGHT about Skyrim or any games outside of those franchises I want to play) so I've got some time before it really matters. (Plus, my absolute favorite game is still the original Xbox title Star Wars: Battlefront II. I'm just disappointed it's not supported by Xbox Live anymore.)

(Anonymous) 2013-05-22 11:31 pm (UTC)(link)Also, I love that there's now a console where we can combine no gaems jokes with xbox hueg jokes (plus the "359/360/1" jokes). My favorite so far is "It's called the Xbox One because it runs 359 degrees cooler than the previous Xbox."
I just started a play through of one of my old favorite JRPGs, Star Ocean 3. So far it is exactly as cheesy and ridiculous as I remember it, and just as fun as any new RPG.

What's not okay is the XBO. The XBO is a colossal fuckup of epic proportions. I really like the 360 but this thing? What the hell is this? The reveal show was a fucking embarrassment (I love their obsession with being able to control your Xbox through your phone or whatever for a "unified experience" -- i.e. taking over your living room and murdering the general purpose computer) and was it just me or did Steve Ballmer get down on his knees and fellate EA Sports in front of God and everyone right there on stage? Not to mention Microsoft is playing coy with the used games thing. I'm sorry, but Sony with their simple focus on just fucking playing games, no bullshit, is the clear winner here and everyone knows it except the hardcore XBots.

Re: Xbox one
In addition to the games I already have going on Alan Wake is being sold by the Humble Bundle folks, pay your own price. So I just got that, and I like it so far (even though I'm a wimp for scary stuff).

No, wait, I know that the Xbox One is going to charge people for buying games used and...Kinect is built in, I think? anyway, both of those things are stupid. at least my to-be-played game pile is big enough to occupy me for years at this point.
as for what i've been playing, it's still borderlands 2 (new characters to level and all), assorted Cave shmups, and...Dead or Alive Dimensions on the 3DS. I am highly amused at the story mode, as it's a summary/retcon of the first three games, and instead of clarifying DOA's story it just highlights how utterly absurd the whole thing is. Absurd in a totally awesome way, of course.
Re: Xbox one
As for what I'm playing, I bought 999 back around Christmas and breezed through it like lightning, and was lucky enough to find Virtue's Last Reward at the same local Gamestop a few weeks later, but had not yet started playing it due to needing to finish costumes for a couple cons. So I was thinking I should start that soon.
And then I went into that same Gamestop the day after getting back from the second of the cons I was rushing costumes for... and they had Radiant Historia, which is also hard to find and comes highly recommended by multiple people whose taste I trust.
I'm gonna have my 3DS stuck to my hands for awhile, I guess...
Re: Xbox one
And NEEDING an internet connection for a console is just unnecessary. I doubt anyone actually wants that. (Will people still have to pay for LIVE too? If so, that's shit. No one should have to pay extra for a service that your console needs to run.)
The whole thing is a fuckfest of stupidity. Maybe it's better than it sounds but I don't have high hopes right now.
(I'm secretly hoping that Microsoft will listen to all the rage and create an alt version that pretty much JUST plays games and doesn't have these restrictions, but that's probably a pipe dream.)

Currently playing tomb raider (so much fun) and Zero Escape which I'm enjoying a lot
Re: Xbox one
Why is this even a question anymore?
Re: Xbox one
(Anonymous) 2013-05-23 12:49 am (UTC)(link)Not that those caveats make Xbox One a good deal by any stretch.
Re: Xbox one
To install the game data on another Xbox One, the owner of the new machine pays the game's list price on Xbox Live.
Yep, full price for used games.
Re: Xbox one
I really can't see myself buying one knowing that it has to be connected to the internet at all times, and you have to pay to play reused games/pay to play your own game at a friends/on a different account. That ain't right.
Re: Xbox one
So they announced actual games for it after all? With release dates and everything?Sorry, misunderstood the question. I rock Fallout 3 for PC these days.
Re: Xbox one
And they gave me absolutely no reason to buy one. We'll see if PS4 pulls the same used games and sort of always online shit.
Re: Xbox one
I was playing several games (including the DSi port of FFIV) but I dropped all of them, I get into periods where I play video games and then I get to a plateau where it's TOO DIFFICULT and I just stop playing, or I lose interest altogether. I was like that with FFIV and also Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn and one of the Atelier games I have for the PS3
Usually these days the only time I play video games is when people come over and we play P4A or King of Fighters or something
