inspired by secret 9 comment thread

(Anonymous) 2013-05-24 12:27 am (UTC)(link)
do you have a list of users (on this site or elsewhere) that you've decided to just stop engaging in conversation because they're so god awful? like, whenever you see their name you're just like "fuck no" and you don't even read their comments? you don't have to mention names, but what did it take for you to get to that point? was it one incident that pushed you over the edge or was it just a culmination of douchebaggery that finally did it?

Er, I didn't until that thread.

It wasn't just douchebaggery. They both raised their own douches, sheared them, spun the douche-wool, dyed it, and knitted their own personal homemade douchebags on douche-needles. With a delightful shell stitch, but not that that makes it better.

This is amazing.

If you weren't anon I'd make sure to read everyone one of your posts just because I love your analogy so much.

Douche wool is the strongest wool. I think it is naturally non-flammable.

Sure. Only one here *cough* curseangel *cough*, although luckily I haven't seen them for a while, and plenty elsewhere. All of these people are completely incapable of having a conversation without throwing personal insults left and right. Trying to find the point in their hissyfits just makes my blood pressure rise, so it's easier to ignore them altogether.

What exactly did curseangel do? I see lots of people complaining about her (at least I was always under the impression she was female?) but I never saw her actually do anything. She quit posting shortly after I started commenting here regularly, though, so I'm sure I missed something.

Not here (and I can't imagine it ending well if people start naming names of people here they don't like) but there's someone in one of my fandoms who I can't stand and roll my eyes every time I see something she posts. She acts like she's an expert on all of the actors, harasses them on Twitter like she's friends with them, and attacks anyone who dares to criticize any aspect of the canon because it's perfect and no one involved in it can do any wrong in her eyes. I just can't with her and try to avoid her as much as possible.

sherlock or supernatural fandom?

Re: inspired by secret 9 comment thread

(Anonymous) 2013-05-24 12:49 am (UTC)(link)
I do. I actually didn't have a problem with them until there was a gigantic wankstorm in a secret thread and they were all over it being a complete shithead. After that I just couldn't look at them the same way. Of course, this was back on fs!prime and I haven't seen that person in nearly a year

Who? And what shitstorm?

It depends on the type of douchebaggery they are known for. If they are likely to cause wank I find entertaining, I'll read their posts.

Not really, there are a couple of users I just ignore at times, but tbh I love you all and I accept that once in a while you have a bad day and blowing of steam happens...

There are a couple of subjects I tend to stay away from because I know I will end up in really long heated discussions, because we do not agree (and probably never will). Though at the end of the day I don't stay mad, everyone got their hot topics that they might take too far (me included).

And as F!S is the only community I am active in I don't have other users I recognise by name.

Yes. It's not a long list but it's there. It's a culmination of douchebaggery that was eating away at my patience and making me into a bitter old ball of anger and ruining my experience here. Made the smart choice to just stop engaging and I've been having fun ever since.

there's one person. not because they're a douchebag but because they're annoying and not funny, yet they still try to make jokes.

Eh, a couple of people in fandom, but it usually takes a lot for me to get to that point. It's never been 'one incident,' rather a cumulation of douchebaggery over time.

Related: I really need to use the 'ignore' feature more often on Tumblr.

I love the ignore feature on tumblr so much that it makes me want to cry. i can't believe I went so long without using it

The beauty of reddit is that you can tag people, so I guess you can say I have a list on there? It's strange to be in a normal thread and come across someone making a normal comment, only to see that you've tagged them back to their own comments about how the Native Americans deserved their genocide or how they're a frequent /r/theredpill contributor.

On here... one person, from a wank from a few months ago.

It's more like I end up with a list of favorite F!S folks that I can't really get mad at, no matter what they say.

But I do avoid replying to one person here, mainly because last time we had a Thread Disagreement, it left me feeling fucking terrible for days. Better just to accept we're not going to agree on some things, EVER, and enjoy the stuff she says otherwise.

Yes, though the list is only in my head.

And it was a build up of crap and then that final *thing* where i finally just said 'fuck it, i'm done'.

Only on LJ, though, since FS is the only thing i currently read on DW. (Most of my flist is replicated here, i just read there.)

There's at least one non-troll person here that I hate on principle because they have a bigoted opinion on my partner's identity. I have a short list of things that people could do that will automatically trigger a big red "DOUCHEBAG" flag, and then I just hate them on principle for that one comment. I hate them worse if everyone thinks they're a good person, too. NO YOU'RE NOT, YOU HAVE AN ASSHOLE OPINION ON SOMETHING THAT DOESN'T EVEN AFFECT YOU. GO DIAF.

Wait, there's two. The second person just says really stupid shit and when people call them out on being a fucknut, they backtrack with, "well my opinion is obvs the gold standard" or "I was just being sarcastic, gosh." They sort of just roll around in their own douchbaggery like a dog in shit and I'm tired of them.

Oddly, Noodly and Chard I can more or less tolerate because sometimes they say things that make sense, and the rest of the time, I can more or less pass off their douchebaggery as a natural consequence of their trollish natures. It's when people actually seem to genuinely believe in their own douchebag opinions that I want to just punt them off a cliff.

a couple. like, i used to think they were kinda cool in a trolling way but lately they've been so over the top I just don't interact with them at all. Any comments they make are a dead zone and not worthy of reply.
