Especially in Holmes, since it tends to make the cases about the criminals, where in the originals it was mostly about the victims or the witnesses or the relatives.

Holy fuck, I'd never thought of that. But you're right, ACD's stories were very much about the victims, and how they handled the situation and how Holmes and Watson helped them.
