Possibly some of the Marvel or Star Trek people--I've heard Pine, Ruffalo, and RDJ are all very nice to fans.

Ewan McGregor. He's gotten naked how many times in his films?

I had a similar experience, minus the nakedness and fapping. I used to watch this one actor's show and his youtube vids and loved them but when I met him it just became too real and I felt awkward watching any of his acting anymore. Which is sad.

I must confess I have not had the same issue as you. I guess the celebrity and their characters (or RPF persona) exist separately in my head. But it's totally understandable that you would have that reaction, I think.

I don't have quite this problem because people aren't really physical to me, as such. I'm mildly face-blind and tend to see bodies as sort of ... person-sleeves? Just the physical manifestation of the personality. So it's fairly easy for me to separate actors and characters because the personality is usually different, so to me they're basically two people who happen to look similar.

That said, I can well understand why you feel the way you do.

I'm staring too hard at the painting to wonder who it was.

(But yes I can understand how that might be awkward.)

Something a little like this happened when I was in college. I had a job as a dishwasher, and one of the waiters and I were certain we knew each other from somewhere. He was cute and nice, but I couldn't put my finger on how I knew him.

Two weeks in we figured it out--he'd been the nude model during my Life Drawing class. Hawkward.

When I was taking a life drawing class in college, we sometimes had a really nice male model. he was a bit older but he was built so it was fun to study his musculature.

One night when I went out to dinner with my family, we were entering the restaurant and he and his girlfriend/date/something were leaving and I smiled at him politely and then I started laughing. My Mom asked what was up and I said 'he was the model in my class' and she laughed a bit.

I wanted to burst out 'I've seen you naked!!!' when I saw him, but I didn't. =D

Anyway, I can see your situation happening. But, if it was me, and I wasn't likely to have a continuing acquaintanceship or friendship with the actor in question, I can see myself easily slashing and fapping through the awkward. It's a hard job, but someone's got to do it!

This happened to me when I met some of the members of my favorite bands who tend to be written about a lot. And when I wrote about how it made things weird for me when coming back to the fandom, people got mad at me. :(

But yeah, totally get you. It's different to experience a celebrity through pictures/interviews than as, you know, a corporeal person standing right in front of you.

I know how you feel. I met Darren Criss back when he was just a BNF (and yes, he is as adorable as people say), and later seeing magazine photoshoots with him half naked felt so awkward, like I was seeing a friend of mine there. But on the other hand, I love those photos, he looks really hot in them...

Oh dear, I felt the same way about seeing those half-naked pics of Darren Criss. It was weird!

That's one reason I'm happy my boners usually extend only to video game characters. Nothing will ever make me feel awkward about using Big Boss as fap fodder. Nothing.

this isn't so weird!

i used to be a casual consumer of bandom fic (not hardcore, could always separate reality from fiction), until i saw the actual bands in person. it sort of kicked in that they were real people and not just figments. stopped reading bandom because it weirded me out.
