I thought it was kind of sweet and worked in the books...from what I remember it happened a little differently in the movies (?). But I can see how it might read as boring.

That said, Anne/Gilbert is positively SCINTILLATING compared to Emily/Teddy.

I've always preferred fanon romances because I can pick and choose whatever I want to happen, retconning and denying and accepting at will. I need only cater to my own wants whether I'm writing or reading, which is so much better than TPTB dictating things.
