This describes a huge portion of what made me fall in love with nu!Who when I first checked out the show. It's such an unusual thing for shows to focus on nowadays - so many sci-fi shows are usually all about the ~cool important plots~ and constant focus on internal arcs, no focus and importance placed on scenes of the main characters just stopping and glorying in the amazingness of everything and making a big deal over it to other characters and the audience, as though it's really, truly important.

(It's also something I really, really love about the Hartnell era - that just the things they see and situations they come up with are fascinating enough for the characters to spend a whole episode mainly just being amazed at it).
