Identity on the internet is a weird thing to navigate. Especially, perhaps, for those of us who were adolescents in fandom. I remember nights of completely overblown stranger-danger panic because of the confusing mix of messages about community vs predators online.

Pseuicide was drastic. On the other hand, it's not that uncommon? I remember the first fandom acquaintance I had who pseuicided, and I'm pretty sure everyone on the forum knew it wasn't legit. (Sure enough, she showed up elsewhere six months down the road, and even started using the old handle again about three years later.)

Chalk it up to youth and experience and let it go, I reckon.
